Learning SEO
A big part of this blog, is what to do once you turn 60, and one of the areas that has facinated me, is the concept of the Side Hustle.
The side hustle is the thing you do part time to bring in some extra cash, and there are hundreds of ads on the internet, telling you how to do this. The ones that interest me, are things I can do from my computer, from any location. Such As:
Blogging
Ebay Store
Affiliate Marketing
Drop Shipping
Audacity
Monetizing Youtube Videos
And the list goes on, and on, and on. And if you listen to the Michelson Twins, or Tom Vu, or any one of the hundreds of puppet advertisers of the get rich scam education programs you would think its easy, just follow my system, a 14 year old can do it. Not. None of it works, if nobody access's your store, website, youtube channel, or Blog. And none of it is "Easy" it takes years in some cases to build a presence.
Therefore...
It all starts with Search Engine Optimization
Or you can spend thousands on Google Ads, like Charlote Mikkelson, but this will not get you a listing in the search engines, which is really where you want to be. If you don't get your page, article, web site indexed, as soon as the ad campaign is finished, so is your traffic, so what does it really get you? Also advertising works to sell a product, not so much to get viewers to your site, which is really how you get exposure.
Google Search Engines want to see certain things before they will index, and then rate your site. (and the same with Bing and other search engines.) So it all starts with good SEO optimized content. The best way to do this is with an SEO aligned web design tool such as WIX www.wix.com
Once you punch out a page, or in this case a Blog entry, you click on the SEO button on your web dev, and follow the intructions. You may not fully understand, but you will later. this is part of your SEO education. I have my SEO setting open and as I type, I work thru it to add content Google will like to index. Once you have created content, there are 3 other programs you will need to master to get indexed, and start to create banklinks to your site for recognition. Google looks for backlinks from other sites and ranks sites based on the quality of those bank links. The 3 programs you need to study are :
Google Search Console - submitting your site helps Google to index your site to create a SERP - Search Engine Resource Page, which is used to rank your site
Google Analytics - Web traffic analytics
Ahrefs - backlinks, keywords, and tracks ranking
Semrush - keyword search tool
So where do you start? Sign up for an expensive training session? Listen to Charlotte Mikkleson and get sucked into their Scheme? No...
The training for everything you want to achieve, is free, why? because the designers of these aps, want you to learn them, so you will eventually pay for their products. So they train you for free, how great is that?
so, here is the start of my education, and next career in side hustles...
And once I have mastered all the training here, its onto Google Courses, and Semrush.
I'll keep you informed along the way...
